The Flame Diner is a traditional Greek diner with table service in a casual environment. There is an expansive menu including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items. Flame is open 24 hours and also offers free delivery through the website

. The dining room is a standard and no frills type place. Food is served fast and the portions are average to large.
Flame is medium sized for a New York restaurant and is located on the ground floor of an older building. Seating is mainly in booths. There also is a small bar. Privacy, space and noise between tables were reasonable, though the restaurant was not crowded on a Saturday at 3:00 pm. There is no designated parking area for the restaurant, but it’s in New York so you can always use public transportation or a cab or just walk.
As for the food, it was good enough to be satisfying and filling but nothing really stood out or was a magnet for a return visit. The vegetable lasagna was light and properly cooked. It was somewhat bland, but the tomato sauce was fresh and the cheese did not dominate the dish as is often the case with lasagna. Some carrots and peas on the side did not add much from a taste or appearance sense, but also were filling. A cheese omelet was quite rich in cheese but otherwise standard in taste and texture; it did not captivate or mesmerize any taste buds. Both the regular fries and waffle fries were fine. Table service was reasonably polite but hardly engaging, and an order for beer was missed. A later call to the restaurant to get some information was another story though. The staff member was curt and borderline rude. Phone etiquette clearly is not a priority here. Flame works as a quick place to grab something to eat if you are in the area, but it’s not worth a special trip for a meal as it was not a special place.
