Built in 2000, with six floors, 356 rooms and 48 suites, the Marriott at Legacy Town Center is a full-service hotel located in Plano, a suburb of Dallas. The hotel has a number of conference rooms and is popular with business travelers and for weekend weddings. As a full-service hotel which charges related prices, the Marriott should offer a higher level of service and provide better facilities, however the experience did not quite measure up to expectations.
The hotel is conveniently located next to the Dallas North Tollway. It’s far enough from the highway so that road noise is not a big issue, and is even less so for a room facing away from the highway. The hotel is a short walk from the Shops at Legacy, a mixed-use development with a variety of toney shops, quality restaurants and trendy bars, so neighborhood attractions are a plus.
As for hotel facilities, the outdoor pool is large and includes a whirlpool. The workout room has modern exercise equipment and a steam room and sauna. The hotel room was for the most part clean and comfortable though on the smaller side. Noise from other rooms was moderate. A major issue here was smoking. The hotel is a non-smoking property but smoke could be smelled from the vent in the bathroom and on two floors near the elevators. While this was not fully the hotel’s fault, it was still disappointing. Food quality was fairly good but plates were removed twice before meals were finished. Staffing levels at the front desk were inadequate at busier times. Room service was unpredictable, sometimes helpful other times lacking. Overall, the stay was a bit disappointing. The hotel was acceptable but far from exceptional and would rank average among comparable properties.
