Palio’s Pizza Café is a casual Italian pizza restaurant. There are a handful of locations in the north Dallas area. As the name would suggest, pizza is the main dish, but the menu also includes salads, sandwiches and pasta. Food is ordered from the counter and then served tableside. Palio’s also offers delivery.

The restaurant has a long narrow shape and is somewhat dark inside. The tables are spread out, so there is a reasonable amount of privacy. The booths are comfortable, and tables are sturdy. Palio's has several large flat screen TVS and a fireplace as well. Music is played louder than average and is mostly contemporary rock. The restaurant has a patio but it’s rarely used. Cleanliness counts here. The staff keep the tables and floor clean and are quick to remove empty plates and dishes.

The food was average to good. The Greek bread was coated with a thick slab of cheese and also had a few tomatoes and olive oil. It was served fast and lukewarm; overall it was filling but not very appetizing. The Mediterranean pizza was better. It had a thin crust and a mix of fresh vegetables. The cheese was light and was sparing so did not dominate the dish. A medium size pizza at around $12 offeres good value for the price. The tiramisu dessert is sourced from an outside vendor but was light, sweet and flavorful and was the highlight of the meal. The only downside was the portion was not larger. A scoop of sherbet from the ice-cream bar was generally bland, nothing special and also had ice crystals. Palio’s is a reasonable choice for pizza served fast and fresh. It’s not gourmet but fits the bill when convenience and speed count. Families with young kids frequent Palio’s, and they can get loud so it’s better to go here with friends or family then on a date.
