The Red Room is a nightclub in Addison, Texas. It's located off of Beltline Road and is near the North Texas Tollway. Red Room is part of the same business as Wild Chutneys Indian Restaurant and they become part of the same nightclub later at night. Red Room is mainly a hip hop club.
The club has standard single room layout, with a narrow rectangular shape. It’s kept relatively dark and has traditional multi-colored lights for effects. Couches and stools line the sides of the room and a standard bar is towards the back. A DJ plays also plays from the back of the room. The neighboring Wild Chutneys restaurant clears out the tables and chairs after dinner service and the restaurant space is then available for dancing as well around 11:00. Red Room typically has a happy hour from 7:00-9:00 most nights and a cover charge may be charged after 11:00 on weekends.
Red Room was about half full on a Friday night around 11:00. The club mix was almost entirely black and slightly upper scale. Hip hop music is played loud here and the room’s acoustics made it seem louder still. Aside from standing by the bar there was little to do. A few people were dancing. Most of the couches were reserved for unclear reasons, and sitting on the footstools was like sitting on a beanbag, totally uncomfortable. A brandy on the rocks was average in quality, not bad but nothing special. This club may get more traffic and more excitement later in the night but the atmosphere was fairly dull and the facilities quite basic, so one drink and a few minutes of hanging out was enough of a commitment before leaving to look for a better scene. Addison comes alive late at night with bars and clubs, but the Red Room is not lively enough to merit a return visit anytime soon.
